Hair Museum of Avanos, in Cappadocia is one of the weirdest museums in the world created by skilled Turkish potter Chez Galip. The walls, ceiling, and all other surfaces, except the floor, are covered with locks of hair from different women who have visited this place and pieces of paper with addresses on them. Apparently, the museum was started over 30 years ago, when one of Galip’s friends had to leave Avanos, and to leave him something to remember,, the woman cut a piece of her hair and gave it to the potter. Since then, the women who visited his place and heard the story gave him a piece of their hair and their complete address. In 1979 Galip had the idea of collecting the hair of women and creating a Hair Museum – the purpose of which was to raise course participation. The idea received a lot of attention from both local and foreign women. This collection has found its place into the Guiness Book of Records with more than 16.000 different hair examples and their addresses. Check it out. Enjoy.
